Single mom needing divorce, child support, government funding advice?

Question by Vanessa: Single mom needing divorce, child support, government funding advice?
Hey so I’m a soon to be single stay at home mom with a 2 year old and 38 weeks pregnant. Baby could be due any day. I have no job and no money saved up as my husband has controlled all our money. What options do I have to get out on my own? I would like to get set up with HUD but don’t know if I can apply not having a job (waiting list is like a year) and I don’t know how to get child support if I don’t have money for a divorce. I’m not willing to move in with my parents under any circumstances as they have already said no. Are there any legitimate stay at home jobs? I just don’t know what to do next. I have no clue the first step of divorce or how to get out. Any help would be appreciated.

Why are your parents saying no? Are they hoping that it will force you to work on the marriage? Without more background on the circumstances its hard to give advice.

Question for Single or Ex-Single Moms: Meeting someone after divorce advice?

Question by Anna Smith: Question for Single or Ex-Single Moms: Meeting someone after divorce advice?
I am recently divorced, was only married 3 months before finding out my ex husband was a serial cheater. It has been 10 months since we seperated and the pain is getting easier each day.

I am not ready to date again, but with my new life as a single mom, I have found that when I am not working, I am at home with my child watching Barney and Sesame Street, putting them to bed and then watching Lifetime. My ex husband was my only friend or so I thought, so I don’t have any female friends to go anyplace with, and I can’t even leave my house to go to the mall alone since I am the custodial parent and also can’t afford a babysitter.

With all that said, I often sit here and wonder how in the world will I meet a man when I am ready to date again? Did any of you worry about this, and if you met someone, how and where did you meet your Mr Right?

I watch my ex husband come and go as he pleases without being weighed down by the obligation of a child, and he can move on…but I am trapped at home with our child. I wouldnt trade spots with him for anything…but it almost seems unfair, that he could hurt me and then have his freedom, while I sit hurt and wondering and guessing at my future. Hope that makes sense and thanks for answering :)

Welcome to our mysoginist society that still straddles women with the children and allows men who fail their children and their marriages to run and live life footloose and fancy free — even to start new families again!

I never could trust a man enough again to get married and with three kids I had no time to date. If you can find the time to date and get out, I’d suggest you do.

But I have met plenty of men doing the things I love to do and I’d suggest that you do that; figure out yourself, who are you? What do you want out of life? What do you like to do?

Follow your own dreams and for certain you will find the person who is already on a similar path and thus the right person for you.

Don’t delay — that is finding yourself, the rest will come.

Question by B D: Divorce Advice and Custody Help for single father.?
I currently have custody of my little girl, and am about to go into a divorce. My estranged wife has decided that she wants to drive out here and take my daughter to the other side of the USA. How can I stop this from happening, and what advice do you have in regards to maintaining the current living arrangement?

I currently have a job, a house, and stable living conditions. She is living with her friends, is not stable, but can sound logical as heck.

Don’t let her take her. usually the parent that has the child at the time before the divorce usually gets to keep the child sounds like she more or less abandon her any ways. And now she is ready to be a mom again.
