Most anywhere anything that was bought while you were together is to be split 50/50. What was yours before is still yours and what was hers before is still hers. Anything that was left in a will (i cant think of the right word) is yours/hers. Kids usually go to the mom with the dad getting every other weekend and holiday visitation.

CALIFORNIA – A 2007 divorce case appeal has brought to light recently a complete financial report of the divorce law in California. In Re Marriage of Feldman, a businessman did not disclose certain assets and financial transactions with his wife, despite repeated requests for information. Among the information revealed Feldman was the formation of many new businesses. Ms. Feldman had learned about the secret activities of her husband before the divorce and has provided its own investigation into the discovery. Feldman said his lack of disclosure was unintentional and that the secret activities were of little value compared to the summer. However, the California Court of Appeals rejected that argument, stating that the spouse has a duty to disclose all necessary until all the work is divided and that this refusal to do so is not acceptable. According to the Court, Feldman was required to disclose all relevant information in writing, to continue the process of discovery and to disclose material information prior to each new project started. In the end, even if hidden assets and operations were not economically disadvantaged in any way Ms. Feldman, the court found that Feldman has to pay his wife $ 250,000 in penalties for breaching information obligations – and another 140,000 dollars in attorney's fees. The court ordered the sanctions section of the TX Family Code Act in a fiduciary duty. The moral seems to be hiding important financial information by the spouse is never a good idea. The consequences of doing so, such as results of the Feldman case, could be much more expensive than a simple agreement for equitable sharing of property.
