I’m 42yrs old woman who came from other country.I hve 2nd marriage & I hve 3children with previous marriage.2 of them’re above 18 and 1 is about 15.1st of all when I came to US alone,I met with my 2nd husband who also came from my country.That time he asked me to marry him because he love me and want to help my family.So we’re married and I brought my children here.But after 3yrs of our married and 1yr of my childern arrived here,He said “he dont want my children to live with us” and if I don’t agree with him he gonna divorce.My children is my life and they’re good to him .but he show his bad mind and I have only chance to divorce.But I don’t know what should I do .We hve a small bussiness with his name and we also bought a house together last yr but he controls most of our financial.So I like to know if we divorce what should I do with our estate and how can i deal with financial situtation?I can’t afford a lot of money for divorce because I don’t know how much can I get after that.pl
My children and I came here legeally with our own chance.so immigration status is no problem for me.I only worry about he bully me coz he controls everything.Thank for ur guys advice.its helpful and appreciate that.

We’ve been married nearly 8 years. It has been rough. He has spent more than half this time cheating, he is emotionally abusive, has been physically abusive to our children, we are two completely different people. We are constantly at one anothers throats, I’m so sick of it, I’d rather be alone for the rest of my life than to deal with him or anyone like him any longer. I’ve never been divorced and I am gonna file with legal aid as I don’t have much money, but I am new to this and would appreciate advice from those who have been through divorce or perhaps those who are divorce attoneys and so forth. Advice from how to deal, to legal info that would be useful and good to know, is very much appreciated. Thanks so much. Please no advice to go to counseling. We’ve been there, done that. i have tried to work things out. He will not change. this most likely will be contested, because he is controlling, always trying to tell me what to do and blackmailing me, and using anything hecan against me as a pawn, if that don’t work he tries to buy my affection. I’ve told him how I feel but he does not care. He thinks going to church or changing for a short time is gonna make things better, but my love for him has been dead for a long time.
I don’t wanna be mean or coldhearted in this or take his children away from him, they still have the right to know their dad. I just don’t feel that I should have to stay with him for the sake of the kids and be miserable in the meantime. He says things like don’t break up the family. He don’t understand the emotional trauma he caused me and what kind of pain he put me through that I will never forget. He says leave the past in the past. But the past, was most of our marriage. My sister is gonna sell me a house in another state, I’m not putting his name on it at all, and she is also helping me with a vehicle. We live together right now, but I am planning on leaving when I get the money saved up. I live in FL
I stayed “so long” because I didn’t know where to go or what to do, he always made me feel trapped and useless and threatened me with the kids, telling me that he’d get them cause I had no job and he did and anything that I fell for, I’m smarter than that now. Now, I can go to a shelter I imagine, but it’s hard to do that, because one of our children was removed from our home and fighting to get him back because he slapped him in the face and left a bruise. I don’t want welfare to not return him cause I’m living in a shelter…

Answer by redmarc316 Depending on where you live you may be able to avoid a contested divorce. Where I live we have a thing called a no fauld divorce. The thing you need to be most concerned about is custody of the children, really try to work out a custody thing and by all means do not, I can not stress enough, DO NOT use the kids as weapons against each other. It sounds as though you are being truthful. What he needs to realize, and perhaps you too, is that there is no future in trying to keep some one who dosn’t want to be with you (him)
