How to file for divorce – Divorce advice for women

Question by elizabeth bedazzled: legal advice… well, with a long distance divorce…?
so i have no clue how to go about it… i live in one state, he lives in the other, we have been separated for almost 3 years and ive been living out of state for 2…
should i get a lawyer? and if so, how do i go about doing so? and if not, what other ways could i get this divorce done quickly without going back to where he is???

any suggestions?

Ive been married for 8 years. Times where tough from the start and I thought things would work out eventually. Years later I fell in love with a long time friend. He’s done more than my husband has EVER did and he’s been there through the toughest times. My family is very religious and divorce is not an option, but my love for “hillman” (I’ll give him a name) is very strong and I know that I will be happy and he will love me the way I love him. Ive hurt hillman (by accident) and he still hung in there. Husband really is a see-saw when it comes to loving me and if he wants to be with me. any advice? Please !!!

Are you living your life for the sole purpose of making your family happy? Even if your family is very devout, you simply can’t live a lie for the rest of your life. Do you have any children with your husband? If not, then think about divorce.

How long is the waiting period in Texas? How long after divorce is final can you get remarried? I heard 30 days but not for sure, also does anyone know how long it takes to get child support transfered from one county to another in Texas?

If the judge signed it on 6 / 2, where I expect to receive a copy of the divorce decree in the mail?

I read that somewhere there is a minimum of six months from the filing of the waiting period for granting the divorce. Y ‘right? There is another option to make it faster?
