Answer by murrayskeeter You may conduct a do it yourself divorce process. Obtain a DIY divorce guide. Divorce guides are available at most book stores and libraries. A DIY guide will offer step-by-step directions to lead you through the entire divorce process. Then you need following items: a legal copy of your marriage certificate (not a certificate from a church) or a certified copy of your marriage registration, a Writ of Summons, and a Statement of Claim. Lastly, you will need to take these papers to the nearest Supreme Court Registry.

Question by hali: How can I get a Divorce without a Lawyer?
Im wondering how I can get a divorce in Tx without hiring a lawyer and not knowing where my husband even lives. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Best answer:
Answer by Erika you can go to court house and file and explain to them you don’t know where he is and they can get you the paperwork to do it without him or an attorney is not really needed being you don’t have clue where he is so it would be uncontested divorce…you can also google it online and print the documents out and then all you have to do is file at court house…will cost 200 to 300….good luck and I hope this helps…
Question by ellewoodswannabee: What do I do if I can no longer afford my divorce lawyer ?
I’m getting divorced in California and can’t afford to keep paying my lawyer. I didn’t work for the 9 years we were married and haven’t been able to find a job since our separation while he is steadily employed. Our divorce is dragging on and I am out of money and he is requesting I pay his attorney fees. Any advice?

Question by Shasta: What do I with my divorce papers served by my husband’s lawyer?
My husband filled for divorce. I was served the divorce papers from his attorney. We both want this divorce and my husband promissed to pay all fees and support to me.
I am confused because his lawyer is asking me to pay the attorney fees and cost and terminate to award a spousal support.
I feel they are playing a game with me.
What I should do? Please advice.

Answer by The African Queen You should take the papers to your own lawyer to review before you sign anything. His lawyer has probably helped him realize that he doesn’t have to give you anything without a fight, and you could be giving up your fight without realizing it by signing those papers.

Question by squiggle_worm: How do you fie divorce papers without a lawyer?
A friend of mine is separating from her husband and wants to file for divorce. She is saving up for lawyers fees but someone told me today that you could do it yourself for only $ 200. We live in Houston if that makes a difference. Does anyone have any info or advice on this issue?
Best answer:
Answer by merlin Yes , Texas is a no fault divorce state and can be done without a lawyer if they can both agree to the terms. I can give you advice but the best way to start is with local legal aid. The forms are available. The key is to come to an agreement on all issues.
