Question by Leanne: Need legal advice about Va divorce laws.?
Married for 19 months. Moved into spouses home from a previous marriage. No children. Spouse was disabled before the marriage and receiving disability. Since the separation, spouse has moved and is now renting a home. Now a ruling by a judge has ordered me to pay alimony. I was told this could be for life. My lawyers advice is to appeal this. Could this judge be off his rocker or in cahoots with my ex?
“By the way, why would your ex rent a home if they already had one before the marriage?” After he told me to get out, I moved in with my mother. He let the house foreclose.

Best answer:

Answer by Phil
So this is your question? “Could this judge be off his rocker or in cahoots with my ex?” This is “legal advice” about divorce laws?

I guess the answer is yes. Anything is possible.

But if you need legal advice why not ask the person you pay for it, the lawyer.

(However on the information cited the Judge’s ruling is not so farfetched as to be impossible. If you were assisting in supporting your husband during the marriage you may have a continuing obligation.)

It seems more likely that you should just follow your attorney’s advice, otherwise is’t more likely that you are “off your rocker”…you seriously think this is legal advice and that YA can do better tam your lawyer??

Give your answer to this question below!

OK, so I wondered if someone could give me some advice about a “hypothetical” situation.Disons there is a woman who lives in a house with her 2 children, and she learns a man and he moves in and they get married . If they were at the beginning of a divorce the guy would be entitled to half of the house? Since she is the owner (no mortgage) and he is not the money to buy something or is it just to pay her rent for the last three years (such as invoices and other things). If the guy is entitled to half of the house, it is completely impossible, illegal or sign the woman to her home by her daughter, who is 18 years old? While the daughter of the house has more than the mother. Does the job was so that the boys not the right to the most? Any advice would be appreciated, but please note that this is the United Kingdom if the laws of the United States probably does not apply, I suppose.Son name is certainly not to the facts – there is no reason it would be, they were not together when they bought the house Best Answer:

response candy g
best bet would be for this lady to go to the local CAB, usually in the local library and they have a list of lawyers for low or no cost of labor, where it can check these facts for elle.J: “I divorced years in the United Kingdom, but you know, the law has changed since then, but unfortunately I think it may be a kind of claim to be home when she put her name to the actions in any way. ‘M rather hoping that this subsidized housing that they bought the car that would go a long way to show that cooperation is a tenant at the time of purchase, etc.

Question by WD05: MO & AR divorce laws, legal advice about spousal support, adultery, home…any lawyers?
Long story…complicated a bit! Please be kind, this is a very emotionally disturbing situation, only serious answers please.
I’ll try to sum it up…

Married in arkansas, resided together in Missouri.
Married almost 4 years, I was a single mother of 3 going back to college when we met, and i had my own home.
we married, I sold my home, we bought a $ 300,000+ home together.
I had to quit going to college and work full-time because his promise to pay my tuition after we married was not fulfilled.
I quit working all together 6 months later at his request because he works away from home and wanted me home when he was not working.
June 2007, he moved out and got an apartment in arkansas, putting much of the blame on his children, stating they do not care for me.
Has spent much time here in our home since then, with many unkept promises of moving back.
He took a job in Asia 1 year ago and while claims to be working 3 months on and 3 WEEKS off, I just found out that he has not been working all that time and in fact has an asian girlfriend with which he is residing, believed to be in Thailand. yet he will not admit this.
He has since let the mortgage get behind, his vehicle was even repossessed this week.
Although I have had suspicions of all of this, I confronted him manytimes and it was always denied.
I lost my part-time job this week because of emotional upset and inability to work. and have discussed many times about geting a full-time job and each time he simply refuses and says there’s no need.
the emotional upset is because i had not spoken tohim in 7 days, got suspicious, found internet profiles(facebook, myspace) with many asian female friends, learned he’s learning the language, etc. I called the vessel he was supposed to beon and he had left 1 week earlier. learned he had been in bangkok, had lasik eye surgery, then was supposed to fly home on feb. 11th, move home permanently, catch up the mortgage, then on the 11th i got an email from him stating he wasn’t coming home. 5 days went by with no word from him, he claimed he had been in jail for hitting the doctor while at his lasik check-up. Now today, 5 more days later, he confesses its over!

I have no money, a home that will eventually go into foreclosure, an unfinished degree with student loans to pay, 3 children to support, no means to go to the doctor for some type of help with my upset and nervous situation.
His job is a contract position, no taxes withheld, all checks deposited into an Asian bank account, possibley in Singapore. His income averages $ 150,000 per year. He claims he doesnt have a passport anymore either.
I have suspected, but he will not admit to anything and I’m afraid he may be seeking citizenship in an Asian country and am unsure as to whether or not this will make me responsible for all of our shared debt.
What are my chances of getting spousal support, at least temporarily?
Should I go ahead and file for divorce now? or only tryto seek spousal support and let him show that he is the guilty and abandoning party by waiting for him to file?

***PLEASE***before any snide and hurtful remarks are made, please be aware that the only thing I am guilty for is loving someone who happens to be quite manipulative, hurtful, selfish, quite convincing, and someone whom I have always been able to trust and who I thought was my best friend as well. I am not a stupid person, I am very trusting and have always been an honest person. I am however, obviously a terrible judge of character. This situation has completely turned my world upside down, so please only serious answers from those who have serious educated answers.
I do plan to get an attorney, but have to have finances first and am trying to get a sense of what I may be up against.

.

Question by Rosie25: Divorce Laws! Seriously need advice!?
Okay, I am in a very sticky situation and need advice. My parents are getting divorced. I work for my dad’s company and am heavily involved in managing the finances, taxes, etc. I recently caught my mother taking paperwork from my home office pertaining to the business that she plans to discuss with her brother (he’s a lawyer). She took articles of incorporation, some profit and loss statements, and some other paperwork pertaining to business affairs. None of these things are a secret, but she definitely has negative motives for taking these papers. I do not think it’s right for her to steal business paperwork to use against my dad without his knowledge. My mother isn’t the brightest crayon and left her folder full of stolen paperwork on her kitchen counter, from where I retrieved the folder and currently have in my possession. She’s lied to me several times about her intentions and I am caught in the middle here. Should I allow her to take the papers?
I completely understand that my mother is entitled to money or assets. However, I do not believe that stealing paperwork and doing these things behind his back are ethical at all. I’m caught in the middle and need sincere, knowledgeable advice!
My dad is more than willing to work with her and negotiate a fair situation. She’s the one who cheated on him several times throughout the marriage. But again, is stealing paperwork crossing a line?

Best answer:

Answer by JoliCart
If they are still married, then she isn’t stealing the paperwork. She is entitled to look at whatever she wants. Also, if they are going through a divorce, that paperwork would probably need to be submitted anyway. I understand that you care for your Dad, but it would be best if you stayed out the situation. You are not the one getting the divorce. If you get more involved, negative feelings are going to falling like rain.
