Best answer:

Answer by Hope
I don’t know of any web sites however, it would be best to consult with an attorney in your area. I know alot of attorneys in my area do a free consultation. Make a list of all your questions you want answered and have them ready so you don’t forget anything and call some attorneys and hopefully they will advise you of everything you need to know. Good luck!!

Question by arizona mom: After a divorce, when minor children are involved, I need free legal advice on the fathers rights….?
Is it legal for the custodial parent (mother) to use a fraudulant last name for their child in school and when registering their child in organizations such as dance classes, athletic leagues, church, pagaents etc. against the non-custodial parents wishes? My husbands ex-wife is doing exactly this in our town. She refuses to refer to their daughter by my husbands last name (which is on her birth certificate) even though he has talked to her many times on this issue and it is confusing there daughter who is 12. Does my husband have a legal right to stop her from doing this?
This is to C_Bar: I did not think that the mother could change her childs last name unless the biological father gives up his rights to the child. My husband has weekend and holiday visitation with their daughter and faithfully pays child support and this woman is still giving their daughter her new husbands last name.

Best answer:

Answer by cyanne2ak
Actually yes there are serious legal problems with it. You need to go see a lawyer right away. It can cause horrid problems for the children now AND in the future.

Answer by blackvipe
I would recommend you see a lawyer. Because they can make the judgement on it. Because techincal we are not able to give legal advice. Only a lawyer can do that. But I would suggest you look on the internet theres tones of information there.

Question by saywhatkid: How do you find free legal advice?
I have a friend that is going through a sticky break-up, and needs advice on some situations such as real estate and other financial situations. Most phone calls end up at divorce lawyers and so forth, where the friend is told “wrong office” and such, since the couple was not married. Is there a website that will steer people to the right lawyer type/office? And will they refer a person to a local office in the town the friend lives in? Is there a website like this?

Best answer:

Answer by jslinderml
Findlaw.com is a half decent site, although when it comes to lawyers I generally prefer word of mouth or references. What you basically need is a generalist lawyer. As far as real estate lawyers go, if you know a local agent, they would be a good reference.

Question by bluekittymomma: Seeking legal advice or a point in the right direction of a good free legal aide service for divorce.?
I live in South Carolina my husband lives in Texas he had me served with divorce papers and a temporary restraining order and the court date is this week. We have three small children age six and under that are living with him and have been for the past 3 months the 7 months prior to that they were living with just me. Unfortunately I can not bring my children to live with me where I am staying right now so I had planned on giving my husband physical custody of the boys as long as I can have visitations. The problem is I can not afford to get to texas for the court date and I also fear for my safety if I did somehow manage to get the money for the trip. I would like to handle this situation via a conference call or some other acceptable manner where I would not have to leave the state I am currently residing in. The first court clerk I spoke with had said it would be no problem I just had to ask permission from the judge but now that I have called back to finalize everything and ask that of the judge this new clerk tells me there is no such thing and there is no possible way for me to speak with the judge. I am at a loss as to what I should do next. I can not afford an attorney and would not know if I should have a south carolina attorney or one from texas to represent me. Please I do not want to lose the ability to see my children and I am so afraid that is what will happen if I can’t show up or handle this some other way and showing up physically is not a viable option. Any advice you can give me would be very much appreciated and I thank you in advance for your time in reading this.

Best answer:

Answer by Mike
Contact the clerk of the court and request an adjournment until you can obtain legal counsel.

    Just tell them that.

Question by SnaX: How do you stop a divorce/save a marriage? Any advice or free web links?
Married 2.5 years, together 9 (dating+marriage)
I was asked to leave the house a week ago

I went through a depressed/ill period, where I gave up and stopped trying to do anything

My husband’s “friends” and family called me a “parasite”.

Now he has started believing them and is SOOOO bitter against me.

I don’t want what he has, if I never got a thing out of him again, other than love, I would be happy.

But,…he will barely even talk to me, maybe a minute, litterly.

I read online above all not to argue, and to just kindly agree with anything he says.

Does that work??? If so, or not, What (else) does?
