My ex and I did a on the cheap divorce by finding all of the paperwork online and representing ourselves. Cost about $ 300. This only works if you are both completely agreeable about everything. Since we live in Missouri and we’re about 50 years behind culturally and technically speaking of California, I don’t see why you couldn’t do the same.

If you both agree to the divorce and to how things are going to be distributed, then you can get the paperwork and do it yourselves. If there are children. involved or lots of money and either of you wants some, then you’ll have no choice but to get lawyered up. Have you tried marriage counseling?
