I am getting a divorce from my husband and he has agreed to sign the paperwork, but I do not know where I should go to get the paperwork and file it. I live in dallas texas and married here too. We have one sone and he said he would not fight as long as he has visitation rights. Where would I go about getting the paperwork and filing in dallas texas? any advice would help thanks!

Answer by semiserene Go to the local bookstore and buy “How to Do Your Own Divorce in Texas” or a similar title. It will have all the paperwork you need and will walk you through the process step by step. Be careful, though – some judges don’t like for people to represent themselves and they’ll be on the lookout for any tiny little mistake you may have made in the paperwork or filing process!

I don’t have much money so I can’t pay a lawyer.

I am divorced and have a hearing in June and July, on motions for reconsideration of the stay of my son’s custody and support. Today I received a letter that my lawyer has resigned. I have no money to hire another one and still do not know how I can get a hearing on my own behalf, without representation. I was fired last month and should soon have a job. LittleBarb No work, no money to pay for a lawyer? I would like to see legal aid, what it can do for you … for now, I doubt a judge to reconsider the custody, until you find a job again, and their support, I think you’re basically off the hook until you are more …. but call for legal help if you can not help, I’m sure they can give you a number of someone who can.

My mother is facing a divorce after 36 years of marriage and I need to help her protect her interests. There are complex issues and retirement benifits, though few tangible assets. My mother works out of state and will need someone good to act when she is not present. How do I find an attorney in a small town who will be willing to fight and will be most effective? How can I check on an attorney’s “track record” and political connections?
