Ok we have been in Europe for almost 3 yrs now and I had my son here. He is 2 yrs old. My husband cheats, lies, controls, mentally and emotionally abuses me, and is not a good father. I want to leave. I cant live like this. He never keeps a steady job and is a horrible person. Why should my son and I be bound to him for 16 yrs here bc the Hague convention prevents me from taking my son back home to the united states?? I am a good mother and i can give my son and I a much better life there. My husband threatens to not buy me food and to leave for days at a time if I confront him about the cheating. I am a prisoner and no one understands. I need help to get out but all the laws are in HIS favour! I dont know what to do! I have to type fast he is downstairs. I cant take him out of the country without my husbands permission and he wont permit it without him going to. So what if we all go on vacation and then i say we arent returning to europe? myson and i are american citizens and neither of us are european citizens NOR are we residents of any european county. my husband is though. if we all 3 go and then i stay with my son will my husband be able to take him back to europe? we are citizens,my son and i. please help me. i cant be a prisoner here much longer and my son is growing up with a horrible man for role model. i hope someone understands.
