How to file for divorce – Divorce advice for women

Question by Dasha: STEPS for DIVORCE in CANADA, please lawyer or paralegal Advice…?
My boyfriend and i live in Egypt, he is from Canada, and has been separated from his ex for 3 years, but has never issued his divorce, we dont know how to start this as he hasnt been a resident of Canada for 9 years (recently went back to renew his drivers license) basically we need to know how to start, the steps and if we can start this in Canada while being abroad and how long will it take?

I forgot to mention, his ex also lives in Egypt….how can he start his divorce in Canada while living so far away??

You may conduct a do it yourself divorce process. Obtain a DIY divorce guide. Divorce guides are available at most book stores and libraries. A DIY guide will offer step-by-step directions to lead you through the entire divorce process. Then you need following items: a legal copy of your marriage certificate (not a certificate from a church) or a certified copy of your marriage registration, a Writ of Summons, and a Statement of Claim. Lastly, you will need to take these papers to the nearest Supreme Court Registry.
