After My Divorce Hearing, Will They Mail Me A Divorce Certificate? How Long Does It Take?

Author: Divorce Dr  //  Category: Divorce

I already had my divorce hearing and the judge has signed at all, but I forgot to ask if you mail me the documentation. They will mail a certificate of divorce? And if so, how many weeks will it take?

Yes, all courts will be mailed a final decree of divorce, but when depends on the State and the Court.
Some states have waiting periods, after divorce papers were filed. Some require a wait of 30, 60 days, even up to 6 months after the cards have been submitted before you are legally divorced.
If your state has a waiting period, you will receive documents by post, once the time has expired. If not, should not take more than a couple of weeks to a month, all depending on how busy the office is used.

Mine has lasted six weeks. And you may be surprised to discover that the judge signs the document into reality! I thought I was divorced and married, only to learn later, had not actually signed until the day after I married my second wife!
